What Are Dental Implants?

If you’re looking for a permanent, natural-looking solution for missing or failing teeth, dental implants deliver unmatched stability and aesthetics. Whether you need a single tooth replaced or are exploring full-arch options, implants are placed directly into the jawbone to create a strong foundation. In many cases, we can even place immediate implants the same day your tooth is removed, so you leave with a secure, natural-looking smile without the wait.

No impact on neighboring teeth; preserves natural enamel

Longevity

Averages 7–10 years before needing replacement

Can last a lifetime with proper care

Doesn’t stimulate jawbone, which may lead to bone loss over time

Acts like a tooth root, keeping bone strong and healthy

Aesthetics

May lack natural gum contours

We shape the surrounding tissue for a seamless, lifelike result

Function

Restores chewing ability, but relies on other teeth for support

Independently anchored—stable, strong, and reliable

Daily Care

Can be harder to floss and clean around

Clean like a natural tooth

Is same-day treatment an option for me?

We offer immediate surgical access and same-day implants, especially for aesthetic zone cases. That means fewer appointments—and a faster return to feeling like you.

Surgical Planning

Your smile, needs, and budget is unique and our approach is too. We use CBCT scans, photogrammetry, and guided implant planning software to map out your procedure in advance, down to the millimeter. This accuracy prevents complications, reduces healing time, and delivers results that last. For referring dentists, we share all planning files and stay in sync every step of the way.

The Placement

Whether you're replacing a single tooth or starting a full-arch case, our approach to your implant placement is minimally invasive techniques and precise, with technology that makes the process safe, comfortable, and predictable. You’ll leave with a secure, natural-looking temporary (depending on the tooth) and a plan you’ll feel confident about. We also offer IV sedation and long-acting anesthesia to keep the entire experience smooth and stress-free.

Healing + Final Smile

As your implant fuses with the jawbone, we stay closely involved throughout the healing process. This takes around 2-3 months for the implant to fuse with your jawbone. Once you’re ready, your general dentist will place the final crown or prosthetic to restore your smile. Leave our office with a strong, beautiful, fully functional smile that looks and feels like yours.

Bone grafting isn’t as scary as it used to be. In the past, it often required taking bone from other parts of your body to place in your mouth. But thanks to modern techniques, we can now use safe, biocompatible bone material from a bottle. When mixed and placed properly, this material helps your body grow new bone in the areas that need it—making the process simpler, more comfortable, and highly effective.

It depends on your specific situation. Often, bone grafting is done at the same time as a tooth extraction and dental implant placement. In that case, the implant (or screw) is placed directly into the bone, and bone graft material is placed around it to support healing and help it integrate with your natural bone.If you're not getting an implant right away, we may simply fill the socket where the tooth was removed with bone graft material. This helps preserve the shape and structure of your jawbone for future treatment.

It depends on your situation, but in the ideal case—if the tooth is still present—we can often remove it and place the implant at the same time. This approach helps preserve your natural gum and bone structure, and in some cases, we can place a temporary crown the same day so you don’t have to go without a tooth.

Many patients choose IV sedation for this procedure, which allows them to rest comfortably and wake up with the work already done. The final crown is typically ready in about three months, once the implant has fully integrated with the bone.

After your implant is placed, there’s usually a small metal healing cap called a healing abutment that sits just above the gums. We tell patients to treat it like a tooth: brush it gently every day to keep the area clean and free of plaque or debris. It’s also a good idea to avoid chewing directly on that side for the first month or two, just to give everything time to heal without added stress. Keeping things clean and low-pressure goes a long way in helping your implant heal beautifully.

An immediate implant means we remove the tooth and place the dental implant during the same appointment. This is often the ideal scenario if the tooth is still present and needs to come out. By placing the implant right away, we can preserve more of your natural bone and gum tissue—so when we place the final crown, it blends beautifully with the surrounding teeth and maintains the natural contour of your smile. A traditional implant, on the other hand, is usually placed after a period of healing following extraction.

Dental implants may seem simple in concept, but they’re incredibly technique-sensitive. You want your first implant to be your only implant—and that takes experience. From Dr. Shara and Dr. Lazar to our surgical assistants and trusted lab partners, every member of our team is involved and invested in your outcome. We work together every day on cases just like yours to make sure you get the best possible results the first time around.

If you're in good general health and want a permanent solution for missing teeth, chances are yes. Even with bone loss, our in-house specialists can often rebuild your foundation with grafting or sinus lifts. We’ll let you know exactly what’s possible and design a plan around your specific needs.

With proper care, your dental implant can last a lifetime. Just like your natural teeth, implants need daily brushing, flossing, and regular checkups to stay healthy. When maintained well, they’re one of the most durable and long-lasting solutions in dentistry.

All surgery comes with some level of discomfort, but most of our patients are honestly surprised by how easy the recovery is. We often hear, “I went to work the same day and felt totally fine.” When we’re able to place the implant at the same time the tooth is removed, it’s actually less invasive, and that means less downtime for you. Seeing patients recover so well is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

All-on-X is a life-changing solution that uses 4–6 implants per arch to support a full, fixed prosthetic. We often place these implants and deliver a provisional smile the same day. If you’ve been told you need dentures or can’t get implants, ask us, we may have options others haven’t offered.

We believe in clarity and confidence, not surprises. We offer bundled pricing, which means everything—from imaging to sedation to follow-up—is outlined up front. Plus, we partner with trusted lenders like CareCredit, LendingPoint, and Cherry to make treatment fit your budget.
